The Aquarium of the Pacific is mourning the loss of Charlie the southern sea otter, who passed away on Monday, April 22.

For the past 20 years, members of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) have celebrated our planet with annual Party for the Planet® events. This year, with support from the Disney Conservation Fund, members will be helping their communities “spring into action” with opportunities for families to volunteer to improve our planet.

The Aquarium of the Pacific will host its tenth annual Urban Ocean Festival on Saturday and Sunday, March 30-31, 2019.

The International Children’s Festival features dance and music performed by children, interactive programs for all ages and educational programs.

Guests can enjoy special dive-related presentations and demonstrations, and FREE Aquarium admission will be granted to certified divers on March 9, 2019.

Aquarium of the Pacific’s Charlie the southern sea otter turned 22—continuing his record as the oldest southern sea otter in an aquarium or zoo.

Guests can party with the sea stars and learn about marine life and the environment at the Aquarium of the Pacific’s Latin-themed late night, Noche de Estrellas (Night of the Stars), on Friday, March 22, 2019, from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

In celebration of National Skip the Straw Day on February 22, the Aquarium has created a new comedy short video starring its beloved Pacific Pals characters to encourage the public to avoid single-use plastic.

A new evening course at the Aquarium this spring will explore creating model for balancing human impact on the environment, with input from experts in food, water, and energy production.
