Aquarium Of The Pacific Hosts Its Annual Earth Day Celebration

The Great Hall during Earth Day Celebration

March 1, 2017

Learn what you can do to help our ocean planet while visiting the Aquarium of the Pacific for its annual Earth Day Celebration. Families can journey through the Aquarium to celebrate Earth Day by learning everyday tips to protect our environment. Visitors will have the chance to visit booths from various Earth-friendly organizations and to participate in hands-on learning demonstrations for people of all ages. Environmental films will be shown to give guests a chance to learn about climate change, sustainable seafood, and reducing marine debris. Aquarium animals will be on hand with experts, who will bring them out of their exhibits so guests can get up-close and even touch some of them as they learn about these creatures. These animal ambassadors include birds, lizards, and snakes. The Aquarium will screen the documentary Seasons during the Earth Day celebration.

Special focus on the endangered vaquita: With only 30 vaquitas left in the world, drastic measures are needed to save this critically endangered species of porpoise found only in Mexico. During its Earth Day Festival, the Aquarium will highlight a new international plan to rescue the remaining vaquitas and share ways the public can get involved in this effort.

E-Waste Discount: Help save the environment by recycling e-waste and receive a coupon for $10 off one Aquarium adult admission ticket valid on April 22 or April 23, 2017. Accepted e-waste includes electronic items such as cell phones, computers, monitors, televisions, and small household appliances. Refrigerators, large appliances, and batteries or items containing batteries will not be accepted.

Earth Day Festival: Saturday and Sunday, April 22 and 23, 2017, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
