Megan Smylie

Sea Otter Program Manager

Megan Smylie is the Aquarium of the Pacific’s sea otter program manager, overseeing both the sea otter habitat and the Aquarium’s partnership in Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Sea Otter Surrogacy Program.

She has experience in daily care and animal husbandry of a wide variety of species, including southern sea otters, harbor seals, California sea lions, dolphins, amphibians, and birds. Smylie is enthusiastic about her role in work on the recovery of the southern sea otter and what that represents to local ecosystems. She has been in the animal care field since 2007, after obtaining a bachelor’s of science degree in psychology.
