Lauren Samarov

Lauren Samarov is a senior aquarist in the Aquarium’s Southern California Gallery. She specializes in the care and conservation of endangered white abalone.

When she is not caring for abalone at the Aquarium, Samarov is out-planting, surveying, and restoring white abalone populations in the ocean. She also oversees the (Catalina Island) Casino Point exhibit in the Aquarium’s Southern California Gallery, where she is growing live algae, including giant kelp (Macrocystis), which is the white abalone’s favorite food. She received a B.S. in zoology from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
