Alie LeBeau is the director of the Aquarium’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Pathway Initiatives, which is a program that seeks to achieve the vision of “STEM for All.”
To activate opportunities for more members of the community to see themselves as belonging in STEM, LeBeau collaborates with partner organizations and maintains relationships with Long Beach education, nonprofit, and community partners. LeBeau works with internal and external partners to establish new paid internship opportunities for high school and college students and oversees the growing community within the African American Scholar Program at the Aquarium of the Pacific. Being at the Aquarium since 2004, LeBeau has institutional knowledge related to how education practice has evolved in the last two decades, knowledge on professional development for informal educators, and an understanding of shifting the needs of learners at the Aquarium. LeBeau received her bachelor’s degree in biology and education from Earlham College.
