The Port’s annual PHOTO Program hosts photographers of all skill levels on a behind-the-scenes photography harbor tour through the Port of Long Beach. The best of their work is shown in a curated exhibition each October in conjunction with Arts Month. The PHOTO gallery pop-up will be on display from March 29 through May 17 on the Aquarium’s second floor and will be featured as part of Night Dive on Friday, March 29. That evening Port of Long Beach photographer Tim Rue and Arts Council Artist Registry photographer Eddie Davila will present a talk on their maritime photography adventures at 8:00 p.m., kicking off the Arts Council’s Open Conversations series.
“The Aquarium of the Pacific has been the catalyst in connecting the community to our urban ocean environment for the last twenty years,” said Sean Devereaux, the Aquarium’s director of volunteer engagement and organizer of the gallery pop-up. “These intersections between our urban landscape and the local ocean habitat are illustrated at the Port of Long Beach, and the PHOTO program illuminates the dynamic interplay between nature and humanity.”
