Lecture date: April 8, 2013. Anthropologist Napoleon Chagnon discusses his recently published memoir, Noble Savages: My Life Among Two Dangerous Tribes—The Yanomamö and the Anthropologists. Chagnon, who has studied the indigenous Amazonian Yanomamö Indians of Venezuela since 1964, is a distinguished research professor at the University of Missouri and adjunct research scientist at the University of Michigan. He was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 2012. His popular 1968 book, Yanomamö: The Fierce People, has been widely used as an ethnographic text in university anthropology courses.
