Attorney James Gesualdi will discuss constructive approaches to better serve animals, their interests, and well-being in a manner that fosters enduring, transformative change. He will examine current approaches to the care and treatment of animals in zoos, aquariums, and marine and wildlife parks under the United States Animal Welfare Act. The discourse, he says, involves ethical and practical concerns, as well as a multitude of stakeholders, many of whom hold strong positions. After the lecture Gesualdi will sign copies of his book, Excellence Beyond Compliance: Enhancing Animal Welfare Through the Constructive Use of the Animal Welfare Act. Gesualdi is an animal welfare attorney based in New York.
