As part of the Aquarium’s 20th anniversary celebration, Vice President of Husbandry Dr. Sandy Trautwein will discuss the institution’s twenty years of work and achievements in the areas of animal husbandry and conservation. She will share industry firsts, including stories of the animal species that were bred for the first time at the Aquarium. She will also discuss the onsite and field conservation work the staff has conducted, including breeding endangered species, restoring coral reefs and other habitats, and educating the public about what they can do to become ocean stewards.

Dr. Trautwein joined the Aquarium in 1997 and was part of the team that prepared the Aquarium’s exhibits for its grand opening. She holds a master’s of science degree in marine biology from the College of Charleston (South Carolina) with an emphasis in coral. She earned a Ph.D. in biology at the University of California, Los Angeles, in 2013.
