Dr. Gregory Stone, executive vice president and chief scientist for oceans at Conservation International, will discuss and sign copies of the book he co-wrote with Nishan Degnarain, Soul of the Sea in the Age of the Algorithm: How Tech Start-Ups Can Heal Our Oceans. In this book, Stone and Degnarain detail how modern tools and business models could solve the problems facing our ocean by creating sustainable economic opportunities. According to the authors, these solutions would be driven by new technologies and values upheld by the millennial generation. In Soul of the Sea, Stone and Degnarain lay out a roadmap to a more prosperous co-existence with our planet and a call for a new generation of leaders to ensure the health of the ocean. They describe what actions business, government, and individuals can take to benefit the environment and future generations.

Dr. Stone was a co-founder of the Ocean Health Index and serves on the boards of Pacific Rising and Aquaspark. He also was the science advisor to the nation of Kiribati for the United Nations Paris climate agreement.
