Learn how the Aquarium is taking an active role in shark and ray conservation, why these fascinating and vital marine species are important to our ecosystems, and even meet some of the Aquarium’s resident sharks and rays throughout the day.

To celebrate Shark and Ray Awareness Day, Axl tunes in to watch his favorite detective show Sharklock Holmes! When Sharklock and Crabson receive an unknown dental impression in the post, they set themselves to uncovering its mysterious owner.

Aquarium Online Academy

Join us for our daily live interactive programs for all ages. Classes are streamed throughout the day on YouTube and are linked below.

  • 9:00 a.m. Draw With Us (Pre-k-K). Grab some paper and crayons to draw along as we learn all about ocean animals and habitats.
  • 11:00 a.m. Rays (Gr K-5). Discover the world of rays! These relatives of sharks have their own set of unique adaptations that helps them to thrive in the ocean.
  • 1:00 p.m. Aquarium Exploration: Sharks and Teeth (Gr 3-5). What can we learn from the teeth of a shark? Let’s discover more about different sharks, their teeth, and what they eat.
  • 2:00 p.m. Sharks & Conservation (Gr 6-8). Sharks are an important animal in the ocean. Learn all about the role that sharks play, and how you can protect them.
