Mark S. Martinez will discuss the critical relationship between the power supply and water in California and opportunities for sustainably solving the challenges of both for the state’s future.

Martinez is a senior portfolio manager for Southern California Edison, with over twenty-five years of experience in the policy oversight and operation of electric demand side management programs. He has worked with market innovators for enhancing cross-cutting technologies, information protocols, and specialty programs addressing water and energy, electric storage, emissions reductions, and demand response.

Martinez is currently the lead for SCE’s Emerging Markets and Technology program that supports SCE’s Grid Modernization efforts and the market needs for enabling advanced customer technologies. The program advances the next generation of energy innovation, such as smart zero net energy homes, fast and flexible process automation, and addresses the California policies for beneficial electrification, GHG reductions, and increased energy efficiency.
