Teens are sharing what they’ve learned with the next generation in creative ways. The Aquarium of the Pacific’s Teen Climate Council joined forces with senior artists from the Idyllwild Arts Academy to write, illustrate, and publish two captivating children’s books highlighting conservation and local kelp forest habitats.
Creating for Conservation
Teen Climate Council’s books, Yutaka Finds a Friend and Like Mother, Like Otter, shed light on conservation projects taking place with help from the Aquarium of the Pacific. The books are available through the Pacific Visions Gift Store at the Aquarium of the Pacific and help raise funds for education and conservation outreach. The Teen Climate Council exists to make a difference. One of its founding principles is to foster in themselves and others a passion for conservation education and stewardship. Using creative, analytical, and research skills, the Council strives to inspire other teens and youth to fall radically in love with our planet and its possibilities.
Creation and publication of these books was made possible with the support of the Arts Enterprise Laboratory Student Grant at Idyllwild Arts Academy.
