Celebrating Antarctic Women in Science: Empowering Voices Through Teen Science Café
Teen Science Café volunteers give their community an opportunity to explore parts of the Earth that seem far out of reach.
Teen Science Café 2022-2023
At all levels of the food web, from sea spiders to Weddell seals, animals living in Antarctica need some amazing adaptations to be able to survive – and so do the scientists that study them. While the South Pole is not an easy place to live, nine Antarctic scientists shared how their passion for knowledge brought them to this cold and seemingly inhospitable place.
It is this same passion for knowledge and desire to share it with others that encouraged teen volunteers to organize this series for their peers and make Antarctic research accessible to all. Together, teens and scientists told the stories of Antarctic science, creatures, adaptations, and ecosystems.
Antarctic Women in Science Presentations
We welcome you to experience these stories of Antarctic science with us.
Learn from different scientists studying at the edge of the world in this nine-part series that welcomed scientists from across the country each week to present their research to local teens and highlight how women are on the forefront of scientific research. This series was made possible through the National Science Foundation (NSF).
