Ollie is the most expressive sea otter I’ve ever been around. The range of apparent emotions that she shows through her furry facial expressions, especially when interacting with people, would be the envy of any Hollywood actor.
To help capture these expressions I decided to train Ollie to take fun selfies with me. The idea was to condition Ollie to the camera presences during our training sessions together. Just like any good actor, Ollie would learn to ignore the camera and concentrate on interacting with me resulting in some great captures of her facial expressions. It even allowed for some fun Photoshop moments using those images.
