Happy New Year!

It’s been a lot of fun on the water, even with the cooler temperatures. We had the amazing opportunity to spot 2 holiday blue whales, a few gray whales, oddly enough we had a blue whale sighting last year at about the same point in the month. We’ve seen lots of fin whales, humpback whales, dolphins, and the pacific white-sided dolphins have come south for their seasonal migration pattern. The pacific white-sided are one of my favorites, I love the stark contrast of their counter shading. Well for this blog I figured I would not only give you a few photos from the past couple weeks but some of the photos I thought were the best of the year. Kind of ending the year on a tour of memory lane from the blog. A lot of these photos have been in the blog, but since I can’t put everything up some photos may be new to our consistent readers.
We’ll have new interns coming in this month, and like normal we’ll highlight each of them during their internship with the Aquarium. We were definitely busy during the week between Christmas and New Year’s but even if you made it down for a whale watch why not go on another? Head over to our website to get your combo ticket for Harbor Breeze Cruises and the Aquarium of the Pacific. Book your visit for the 12:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. gray whale watch (gray whale season has officially begun!) and a visit to the Aquarium to see over 12,000 animals on display.
See you on the water!
