Each year hundreds of foodies and Aquarium supporters flock to the Aquarium for our Sea Fare fundraiser. This year Event Coordinator Erin Keim got to sample in advance some of the culinary delights that will be served on Saturday, October 21.

While I love everything that goes into planning the Sea Fare fundraiser, one of my favorite parts is working with the twenty-three food and beverage partners who serve up tasty bites and drinks to our lucky Sea Fare guests. Here’s a sampling of what you can look forward to!

Pot roast from The Pan

The Pan will be serving its pot roast. This beef brisket is topped with gravy and sits atop creamy scalloped potatoes that have just a hint of garlic.

Rumor has it that this was a popular dish at last year’s event, so it may be a contender for the first-annual Bite of the Night award. Plus, breakfast lovers can enjoy the French toast that they will also be offering at their table.

Shrimp ceviche from Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.

Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. will have its shrimp ceviche on the Sea Fare menu! It’s light and refreshing, with shrimp, fresh tomatoes and avocados, some heat from jalapenos, and a nice hit of lime juice. Scoop some of this up with a tortilla chip.

For those looking for something heartier, we will offer seared scallops with risotto. It’s a result of a partnership between the chefs at both Bubba Gump and The Rusty Pelican.

Olive oil from Temecula Olive Oil Company

The Temecula Olive Oil Company will be offering a variety of gourmet products—all of which are grown on their family-owned farm right here in Southern California.

You’ll get to taste a few of their mellow, buttery olive oils that are paired with a specific type of balsamic vinegar. The sweetness of the honey balsamic vinegar balances out with the warm, smoky flavor of the roasted garlic olive oil. Also available for samplings is the basil-forward oil that is complemented by the tartness of pomegranate balsamic vinegar.

Blood orange olive oil cake from Chef Debbi Dubbs

Chef Debbi Dubbs will be serving her fluffy blood orange olive oil cake drizzled with fig and vanilla balsamic vinegar and dusted with powdered sugar.

Beer assortment from Smog City Brewing Co.

Sea Fare isn’t only about the bites! Smog City Brewing Co. will offer their craft beers. Each beer is made by award-winning Head Brewer Jonathan Porter.

From lagers and brown ales to sours and IPAs, there will be something for everyone. Who wouldn’t want to say cheers to that?

Tickets for Sea Fare are still available, but they are going quick. Get more information about this event and buy your ticket today.
