Lorikeets love the Halloween season. Why? Because it’s the time of year when they get to change into piranha-keets and devour Jack-o-Lanterns.
As enrichment during the annual Scarium of the Pacific weekend, the staff placed carved pumpkins around Lorikeet Forest for the resident birds to enjoy. This year the aquarium’s lorikeets were especially playful as normally they would take 2-3 hours to fully destroy a pumpkin. This year they did it in just over an hour. Check out the timelapse video to see the lorikeet pumpkin feeding frenzy.
